Recently, I helped him take a journey to realize that he was ready for transition.
As well as being a great graphic designer, he is a phenomenal painter. He's had a life long dream to eventually paint full time.
Well, today was his last day at work, and the beginning of his new dream. Today I got to bless and encourage Dave to move even further towards his destiny. Today I help him let go of the past (as good as it was) in order to embrace his promising future. Today I saw a man pass the baton with grace and honor.
Transition is always bitter sweet, its hard to leave a place where you have ministered for years and poured your heart and soul into. It requires letting go, trust and confidence in God. Transition is part of life, and often part of God's purpose.
Transition means:
movement, passage, or change from one position, state, stage, subject, concept, etc., to another; change
God always gets us ready for transition by making us uncomfortable... I think its so that we will consider a change. Whenever God is calling me to transition... I always get a mental picture of myself like Tarzan, leaping through the air from one rope to another. The thing is, in order to keep the momentum... you have to let go of the rope behind you. Scary, yes! Necessary, yes!
The great thing about God is... whenever He calls you to move forward and let go of a former thing.... it is always unto something greater or to move you closer to His ultimate plan for your life.
See, the former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you." Isaiah
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

Great post cheryl
What a encouraging post.
We are also in transition as my husband finishes up his old job (1 1/2 weeks left) and then starts a new one. It is exciting and a bit nerve racking as we face some unknowns and "new to us" challenges. More exciting than anything, though I think!! ;o)
Oh Cheryl!
Thank you...you have been reading my mail and yes transition is so necessary and always good, but the unknowns and letting go can be so tough.
Knowing God in all of it is the key though.
I think parenting is the ultimate in transition. As the children grow and mature we are constantly having to make another transition. The oldest child in each family has to suffer as we resist (and make mistakes during)these transitions!!
Great insight Roxanne
Hum, perhaps Roxanne's comments may relate to our household. The transition of Ryan living home has not been easy for our family. We spend all their lives preparing our children to be independent - But no time preparing ourselves for them leaving the nest.
Ah yes, I understand. I had never prepared for Lindsay to leave. Even though we go and see her numerous times each week, its still weird.... No Barney in the background (well... that part is good) no one to feed every 4 hours, and dress and bathe and attend to every minute... even though these things were hard.... they were a huge part of our routine and now that has changed.
Like Jen said, knowing God is in it is the most important part. He knows what He is doing, and He will help us all find a new way.
Transition...it is good. I am hoping that this winter will be the last one that Tom is away one week at a time. It has been a blessing for him to be able to do this job as the finances were definately needed...but we are looking forward to what God has for us this year.:O)
