Do we think He won't like it?
Do we think it is too "unimportant" or trivial to ask Him for things that are on our heart?
Are we afraid of the answer, so much so, that we don't even ask?
Is there something wrong with asking?
These are questions on the mind of many of us. Sometimes we get so stuck considering asking, that we don't even bother. Somehow we think we have to know the outcome before we ask.
What is your perspective?
What do you think is God's perspective?
How big is God?
Have I asked enough questions yet?
Listen to words of Jesus found in Matthew 7
Matthew 7:7-11 (New International Version)
Ask, Seek, Knock
7"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. 9"Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?
11If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!
It's time to ask. He is waiting to create "God stories" in your life

Great Post.
What has held me back before is Does He think I am asking for trivial things? Is He really going to help me find my keys when I am late or help me pass a test? the little things in life.
I felt like I was being selfish as apposed to selfless.I just wanted to Please Him. So for the longest time I prayed for others and their dreams thinking that I could truly in my heart show him I was being selfless and would be rewarded and blessed with my own dreams because he knew what was in my heart.
How could I ask for such little things when people are starving in this world,That would be just wrong.
Now I know that He just wants us to come to him with everything from finding keys to healing to life changes or our innermost dreams. He wants the best for us and sometimes the best is a No answere.I am no longer afraid of His answeres but am overjoyed even in dissapointment with His answeres because after all
Father Knows Best.
About 4 years ago a special Pastor asked Shaun and I, "What do you want God to do for you?". We proceeded to tell him what we were gifted at and how we enjoyed serving. He looked at us, asked us the question again. We were somewhat dumbfounded and couldn't answer his question. We had to think about it for many months. If we were asked that same question today we could answer! :)
Top of my list:
1. God bring people into my life that are hungry for you, people that can mentor me, people I can hang out with as buddies, and people that I can influence.
2.Healing for my daughter
3.I want to see miracles
4.I want to see a spiritual harvest in my life.
:)
Great word Cheryl.
God is a great Dad who loves all His children, equally...so he loves to bless all of us! :)
I am also thinking of the scripture that says: You have not because you ask not.
Oh! We have all fallen prey to the feelings of "unworthiness" I am sure. Praying for the big stuff and knowing God cares about that, but what about Him giving us the DESIRES of our hearts...the things we simply enjoy?
God showed me this through multiple blessings around the time I was expecting Maria. Giving me a very special dress I wanted for her baby dedication but could not afford, a plant, picture or something else that was not necessary, but that I loved.
After all, we as parents, give more to our children than just the absolute necessities for life. We bless them with all that is within our means and will be a blessing and a joy to them. Our God is a much more loving and wise parent than I could ever be.
Sometimes it is the big dreams deep in our heart that seem too big to ask for, but often God is waiting for us to simply obey Him by asking, often He has give us that dream and is waiting to fulfill it.
Such a good word Cheryl, love your new look as well!
Wow!
What great perspective ladies!
I love reading it!!
Keep thinking and providing input, and most importantly, keep asking!!!
Cheryl I keep going back to this post and thinking of the blessings and miracles He has given me because I started asking.
Besides my children this has been my greatest reward from Father God.
I tell this as on the 26th of this month 3 years ago my dad was taken home.As I was preparing his home for sale I went into dads bedroom and sat down and began to cry. There was nothing in the room or closets as we had cleaned everything out days prior to me coming to paint.I ask God to give me a sign that dad was ok as I got up to leave the room shortly afterwards not hearing a thing in my heart I noticed something in the corner of the closet.
A pillow dads pillow I picked it up and smelled it and it smelled like my dad but there was also something hard in it. I looked and it was a cassette tape. I played it and on the tape was Josh Groban singing Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring.
My favourite artist and dads favourite song.He constantly whistled it. When I rewound it to play again there was nothing on the tape. Absolutely nothing on either side.
I have never thanked God so much for the most special gift ever.
Praise our Father as He does fulfill our needs and hears our desires of our heart no matter what they are, beit keys or comfort.
I just felt the need to share with you and your readers this story as I no longer need to question on the anniversary or birthday of my dads passing but praise God for giving me 42 years with him.
God does answeres all Prayers small or big.
I have asked God for many years that the opportunity to do a CD could possibly happen, I had to wait and put it on a shelf and God all of a sudden made it happen so fast that I could hardly comprehend it. It happen the way I truly wanted it to happen. God does so desire to give us the desires of our heart!!!!!
Keep asking and keep dreaming, He is truly the God of our dreams and desires!!!!
Blessings.....
Wow, what a great story Maureen. It inspired me. Isn't God kind?
Tammy, isn't God's timing perfect?
When the answer comes, it is so worth the wait!
Maybe I am strange...but I find it easier to ask God for help than I do people. I am quick to ask Him where something is that I have misplaced and everything. (sometimes I forget to ask and look a few places first...haha)
