Perspective

Recently I had the privilege to go on a Worship Tour to Europe.
One day near the end of the trip we had an opportunity to take an adventure through the roads of Switzerland.
It was an overcast day, and we were wondering if we would be able to see the top of the mountains.

After touring a bit, we took a gondola ride right through the thick clouds, to the top of Santis Mountain. The view from the top was breathtaking. Here the clouds were way below us, and here the sun was shining. Here the air was fresh, all it was overwhelmingly quiet and peaceful.

As I walked along the top and took in the view, I was reminded once aga
in of the majesty of God. At the top, there was great peace, sun - above all the clouds - and a sense of awe.

All of a sudden, all the "cares or concerns" that had been floating through my mind the past few days.... disappeared.

All of a sudden they weren't so important anymore. They seemed small in comparison to the vastness of these majestic mountains.

Immediately God reminded me of how small my concerns were in light of the greatness of His power and provision.

In these moments the phrase,"Don't sweat the small stuff" all of a sudden had meaning.

In this moment, God reminded me that He has a greater perspective about my life, than I do.
He sees things from a different perspective.

Its not that my cares or concerns are unimportant, but more that t
hey are not "big mountainous problems" to Him.

Sometimes when we focus on our problems, needs, concerns, or even perspectives so much.... they become greater... larger... sometimes insurmountable.
Sometimes, we think our concerns, or views are huge..... like a huge mountain. Sometimes we see only clouds all around..... we only see in part.

Yet... God sees all things.... not just our part of the world. He sees things universally. To Him, nothing is impossible. Nothing is beyond His watchful eye. Nothing is insignificant, nor overwhelming for Him.

That day, and every day I see this mountainous picture I am reminded that He is the Creator of the universe. I am reminded that His heavenly perspective is always much greater than mine. I am reminded to take His view, and leave mine behind. There I will find peace and perspective.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. - Isaiah 55:8-9

WOW - so beautiful. It makes me think of Romans 1:20 which says, "For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities — His eternal power and divine nature — have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse."

God speaks to us every day, but not always audibly. Sometimes He just gives us a "picture" and that says more than words could explain. We serve an awesome God!!

I really relate to this entry. I find that peace comes naturally as a by-product of focusing on Him. In His presence all the 'stuff' doesn't really seem to matter.

Hi,
I have been reading your website bc it uplifts me everyday! I found it through a friend, Thank you! I saw your post and was reminded of a story I once heard about a man asked by the Lord to push and try to move a mountain and how he pushed against it night and day. Trying with all his might to move the mountain and push it like he had been asked, he saw other men appear to move their mountains with the Lords help and tried all the more to move his. He pushed for days that turned into weeks, into months and into years. One day the Lord came back to see how he was doing and the man was so upset that he had to tell the Lord that he had failed, the mountain had not moved. The Lord responded that My Child I only asked you to try and push which you have done well. The man didnt understand and the Lord told him to look at himself, all of the muscles and strength that he had built up from the act of pushing had made him a better and stronger man. The Lord knows best, sometime we are not supposed to move the mountains, just push with all of our might. I am not a great story teller:) so it was related better when I heard it, but I think it is so true - that the Lord knows best and we grow from our faith even if the mountain doesnt move. Thank you for your uplifting thoughts!
